Last week of this training block, and to be honest, I am looking forward to a week of less dirty runs. Nonetheless, another very good training week with lots of progress.
Muddy trails
Due to all the rain of the past week, the trails have become really muddy. Although this is not a huge problem, it is very difficult on some places to keep running. The road often looked more than a mudslide, and also felt like one. I personally don’t like to run on this kind of terrain. It always makes me feel like that scene of Bambi who is trying to walk on ice (I do look like this when I am trying to run through on slippery roads.)

New Years run
On the last day of this weird year, my dad and I had a pretty tough hill training. We ran up and down a hill 20x to try to get some altitude into our legs. Afterwards, we were both very tired and thus we spent the last hours of 2020 on the couch with some food and a movie.
On the first day of the new year we both went for a run (what else?!) and although it had been some tough training days, our heart rate was very good. Even excellent. This means that we are both recovering well, which is a good indication to see if we are putting too much stress upon our body or not.
New Year wishes
Which brings me to the last part of this weekly blog post. I want to wish all of you a wonderful 2021 with lots of adventures, miles and wonderful moments. Let’s try to not focus too much on the big things this year, but rather on the fact that we are healthy and that we can run.
Best wishes and thank you for the marvellous past year!
