Too enthusiastic leads to problems

No running this week, but some walking instead. A lot less trainings and a lot less energy… A good or bad thing?

Snow trails

Two weeks ago, I went with a friend for a 28K trail run in the snow. Little did we know that we had to find our own path most of the time. Because of the snow, I slightly twisted my ankle multiple times and caused some overtraining.

As mentioned last week, my ankle did not feel 100% okay and this week it became clear that something was wrong. The only thing that I could do was rest rest rest. Which actually might have been a good thing considering that my body has never felt more tired.

Corona

I am a firm believer that you can feel physically drained if your mind is not totally OK. Normally, I am more abroad than home, so for me being located in the same time for such a long time is a real adjustment. Also not being able to do what you want and feeling locked up does not increase my happiness.

So yes, my mind at this moment is not as positive as it usually is and I can literally feel this in my energy levels. It sucks not being able to run, but to be honest, I don’t know if I would have the energy even to train at this moment. Thus, I am listening to my body and giving it what it needs/ want.

Running will hopefully be possible again rather sooner than later, but for now, it is more important to listen to my body and give it the time to rest that it needs.

Wishing you all a lovely week, and remember this: it is okay to not feel okay.
